Alright Rangers I've messed my Dizz Gear up-I'm a Idiot

Could i have it a cog of would that produe these symptoms.

did you time it with the spout wire disconnected just sounds like timing to me

It wil idle real good but your probably way too far advanced the spout is the single wire connector coming off the distributor disconnect it and set and check it after you tighten the dizzy make sure you cant move the dizzy (he he) then plug it back in you should be good. also when you are timing it are you using the pointer or the round thing use the pointer just in case you didnt know

yes i time it with the spout out.. I pull the cap and Time it to 10 BTDC while at normal operation temp.. I hve also tried 12 deg BTDC. I am struggling with this truck so much now lol. I love the truck after this last 4x4 run and am amazed at the abilites of it. On finding TDC i pull number one plug and rotate the crank shaft. I do this untill it blows air out of the hole. I then use a screwdriver as a feeler for the piston position. I keep rolling the motor untill the pistion starts to drop then i reverse that amount. Question - Are there two strokes up that would push air out ? one being the compression stroke and one being the exuast stroke. Do both of these stroke push air out of the 1 one cylender plug hole.

BTW thankyou kimcrwbr1 I am sorry i did not clear up the fact that i was pulling the spout while timing. When the truck would run strong untill loosing RPM I also belive that that is some sort of a timing issue. I have replaced every thing in the timing system other then the coil that runs to the center of the cap from the drivers side finderwell, and the timing chain. Would that coil when warmed up or heated be able to cause the timing to jump around.
I have read a few post where fellas stated they have not saw a timing chain fail. Stated they have driven several 2.9 into the ground and the timing chain was still solid.

Coils are notorious for failing when warmed up.
Big JIm

Hey there big Jim. How are you? LOL this damn truck is going to get my old lady to commit me to the state hospital. What's the defition of insanity trying the same things over and over again expecting different results. Most experience I have had with coils were more of a light switch syndrome either running then shut off or not running at all ha ha . I am thoroughly finding all grounds and checking all connections today. I fine tooth degreased the motor last night due to the fact I figure if the coil isn't the problem I'm going to pull the timing chain cover and see what is going on in there .
