AllanD

LOL - I've met Allan. I don't belong in the same conversation. We may not agree on everything, but he's as bright as they come. Ron certainly comes across as one of the best at diagnosing a problem that I've ever run across.

I remember seeing something he wrote, I can't remember if it was a public post or a PM conversation, but he said that at one point in his life he was correctly accused of walking around with the complete wiring diagrams and service manual for a highly classified military aircraft in his head.

I imagine he operates on a level most of us will never achieve in our wildest dreams.

Most of the guys I work with think I'm some sort of genius, in reality I just know how to read the instructions and pay attention to what is happening around me.

I thought about bobby. But no one would understand his answers :ROFLMAO:

I usually understand what Bobby is getting at, I just don't possess the skills to take it from paper to reality.

Don't cut yourself short, @adsm08 , your knowledge combined with common sense makes a great source of information.

I'm talking about more day-to-day things.

For example, today the one guy I work next to, who is 26, rather incredulously noted that in three and a half months of working there I have yet to be wrong when predicting what a fleet service company will do. He seemed amazed at my success rate, but I've worked in this business for 13 years, and most of that time has been at dealerships that have major contracts with those companies, so I have dealt with them a lot and I've kinda learned how their decision makers think.

I thought SnoRanger was a Ford engineer or something, he'd get my vote for the 3rd

Nope... he’s not. He should have an engineering degree but college wasn’t for him. Neither was an office job.
It’s an honor just to be nominated.

getting where i need to go.

what separates us is the ability to deal with shit in the wild with nothing.

applied knowledge and problem solving execution abilities with what is at hand....

Oh kinda like my lack of tools and a pile full of scrap. You actually make what you need and use what you got.

Kinda like I grew up on a very small farm and we did everything with what we had, kind of thing. Uncle Dick always said figure it out with what ya got. ( I hated, as a kid, when he said that because I had to think about how to do it but now...)

We got a new word for this from an old TV show

On Aug. 27, 2015, the Oxford Dictionaries site finally did right by MacGyver and decreed that it was a verb: To make or repair (an object) in an improvised or inventive way, making use of whatever items are at hand.

MacGyver it :)

What was MacGyver's first name?.........................................................................Angus

For the youngsters, MacGyver was a 1985 TV series
Angus "Mac" MacGyver was the title character who managed to get out of jams in inventive ways, i.e. using what you have

Don't underestimate Bobby either - the man is a mad scientist. He can have you wondering which way is up in a matter of seconds as he breaks out a new idea and tries to explain it to you. Operates on a whole different level than us mortals.

The original macgyver was the proffessor on gilligans island.

Dude could make a radio out of a coconut but could patch a boat.
