I have a 97 ranger and its startin to cool way down so i would like to have some heat. When i had this problem before the guy fixin it said he flipped some kind of door that gets stuck. Does anyone know where this is or how to flip it. I dont care if i just have heat i just am in college and dont have the money to replace the stuff. any help would be appreciated. :dunno:

its the blend door it behind the glove box.

see the white box(blend door motor) you can take it off with the dash on and under that there is a black stand that is held on by some bolts take that off to then there is a small hole that is as big as your finger tip, there should be some thing sticking out of the hole)the top of the door) and you should be able to turn it with your fingers that will give you heat and the blower will be able to keep the door open for heat. and you should have heat:yahoo:. its all very tight in there but it can be done, i know this works cause i did it last weekend and if you want more on it heres a linkhttp://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/Summer2009/blend-door.htm

How did you get the door to turn i cant seem to get it to turn. I believe i have the failure where it broke in half.

thats no good, you might haft to do it the hard way, takeing it all apart

Did you take the blend door motor out and turn the blower to high and reach in with your fingers and try moving it? Its crazy how much that blower motor can move the door... I have been driving around with a messed up blend door on my truck and I have the motor removed. If I want my system to run on heat, I make a sharp left hand turn while driving and flipping the fan to HIGH, snaps the door over to the heat side. If I want cool, I turn the system to OFF and make a hard right hand turn, typically will move it to the cool side and then only run the blower on LOW and be careful with left turns. The things you do with old trucks LOL.
