Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
I just read that Ford is upgrading every 2024 Ranger with ther STX package. My question is "Does that increase the price of the 2024 Ranger?" or, "Is it a no cost upgrade to give incentive to buy the Ranger?"
.
Ford’s commitment towards innovation and delivering premium features to its customers has taken a leap forward with the 2024 Ford Ranger. Known for its robust build and strong performance, the latest Ranger iteration will come equipped with the much-coveted STX Special Edition Package as standard. This special edition package is a game-changer for the midsize pickup truck market and opens up new possibilities for both off-road enthusiasts and daily drivers.

For as much money that they're losing on their EV offerings... I would be willing to bet this is a way to save money in their supply chain with less parts proliferation AND not to pass any of those savings to the general buying public. I would expect the base price will certainly cost more.

basically 33.5k to build a fairly basic ranger right now. it includes that stx package but who knows how much they raised the price from when i built a ranger in feb. i don't remember what the total was back than

Still have supercab or is it gone now?
When I 'built' a 2023 and put on all the stuff to make it equal to my '97 it was like $43k.
Admittedly the newer truck has some tech stuff and maybe a few things the '97 doesn't have, but I'm just saying, you start with the base, then add for 4x4, add skids, add buckets, options packages, etc, etc, it doesn't take long for it to add up. I'd suspect the STX is going to be over 40k but that's what, about average of a new vehicle price.

Edit/ what are "magnetic pocket" wheels?

Magnetic is the dark gray paint.

Pocket is they style of wheel.

It seems they have gotten rid of the "entry level strpper" model. 4 doors only & no steelies.

I guess the supercabs weren't popular enough, but I like them. Now what you get is basically a car with a little bed in back. Some people just don't want 4 doors but I seem to be in the minority.

I was ready to order a 24 or perhaps a 25 to get the bugs worked out.

Not anymore... unless they change their ways. They can kiss my big fat...

Since I was replacing a cross over, that exactly what I needed. If I was replacing the 2011, the Supercap would have been the suitable replacement. The bed on the Supercrew is too short

yeah that's one of my gripes is the short bed. I can see if you have a family then 4 doors make sense but some of us are empty nesters and basically never need 4 doors, plus, usually you have at least one other vehicle that's probably a sedan or suv if you do need 4 doors.
I dunno, when you look at the numbers it makes my '97 seem like a heck of a deal and I can't see getting a different truck that is basically what I already have except a ton more money.
Some parts are getting hard to find for the old truck that's a minus.

From what I’ve been reading more and more about the big center display issues and the transmissions starting to act up. It might be for the better.

It seems a number of people are having sync and operating issues with the larger display.

As far as the transmission, I don’t know. It could be that they aren’t changing the fluid often enough or a design problem. Maybe both. The maintenance interval for the fluid change is way longer than I’m comfortable with and people are starting to have issues even when changing the fluid and filter at around 60,000 miles on trucks newer than mine.

More and more, I don’t think I’ll want to buy a new vehicle again. Not with the direction they going with all the integrated electronics dependent on a touch screen to operate.
