Do these things usually only last a month? My truck was running like crap so i replaced the fuel pump with an airtex and it ran great for about a month and now is running like shit again. Not sure if its the pump or what. Also the filler neck is cracked by the tank and has a small hole air can get into.

the (airtex) high pressure pump on my '87 lasted about 17 or 18 months with many "ran the tank dry" incidents. in another post here at therangerstation.com i think i said about 7 or 8 times but i really think it was at least twice that many times.

perhaps best to get a fuel pressure gauge to know for sure

I may have a gauge already but i doubt it, im going to try and check when i get up, thanks for the responce

It was the pump, replaced it with another airtex pump and now its dead again. If anyone ever needs to replace their fuel pump save yourself some time and spend a bit more for something better. Taking the fuel tank out sucks...

While you are in there, you can get a replacement filler neck for about 40 bucks on fleabay.

I would pull the bed, it is easier than dropping the tank. 6 bolts, 3 screws (on the filler neck) and unhook the tailight harness. two people or a shop crane can pull the bed. takes about 15 minutes from getting the tools out to having the bed off. add 10 more minutes if you have a bedliner.

I really want to but ive got this stupid roll bar id have to take out to remove the bed liner, and the roll bar came off a jeep so thats a nightmare to mess with, besides im almost pro at dropping the tank now [emoji19] thanks for the place to get the filler neck. The auto part store wanted $180 so i duct taped it.

Was the pickup pulling in a lot of dirt? How is the filter? Can you blow through the lines easily? No recent experience with Air-Tex pumps, just a mechanical pump. It worked great. After so many failures, I would be looking to see if something was killing them.:D
