any adverse effect to unplugging the airbag module? that would disable the entire srs would it not?

Unhook the battery FIRST
Wait at least a full minute then disconnect the SRS module.
Yes it does disable all the airbags, but removing this does NOT disable the dash light, it would be on because there is a problem in the system.....no module
