I did the modification on my 96. Finding a piece of pipe to replace the muffler with is near impossible. It's 2-3/4" on one end, and 3". An easier solution, is to gut the muffler. Take a hot knife and split the inner perforated tube. Then with a pillars, remove it from the 3" end. Looks stock, works great. This truck had the Check engine light on when I got it last week. The previous owner said it had been on for a couple of years, and 2 Ford dealers couldn't figure it out. After doing the Air muffler mod. it went out and has remained out. It runs much smoother, and has more power.

What code did the check engine light throw?

Didn't have a way to tell. It just went out after I did the mod.

Hey, just curious. What does this mod specifically do to your truck? Whats the point of the mod?

improved air intake to let the engine breath better. It smoothed mine out. Seems to have a little more power. It made my check engine lite go out.
