Im attempting to remove the upper intake to more easily access the spark plugs on the drivers side.

Can anyone give me any input on how to remove the last dam bolt at the back of the intake, closest to the firewall ?

And if there is anything else I must disconnect from this would be beneficial.

If there are any pics out there to illustrate, that would be awsome as well.

96 Ranger 2.3l

Thanks !!

my tip would be to not take it apart.plugs can be done without removing anything.

but,if i remember correctly, i was able to get to all the intake mani bolts with a ratchet and extensions.
i think its just the tb bolts and 5 bolts connecting upper to lower intake and it's off. not a whole lot there.

We just use a swivel socket,or you can use a universal. While you have it off, check your hoses that go under the bottom. Also when you pull the intake,it is a lot easier to pull the wires and put the new ones on correctly.

ummm, why is this so hard for people to change plugs on a dual plug 2.3?

It took me a couple hours with patience, extensions, and a "swivel" u-joint.

Never had to remove anything, except for the plugs themselves.

I didn't even use a U-Joint. With 9 inches worth of extensions I managed to get all spark plugs out and in without removing the intake. I too have never understood why people have such trouble changing plugs on a dual plug 2.3L.

First off, I did use an extension and "swivel" for the rear left and extensions for the others, so .................:thefinger:

The reason I need to remove the manifold is that Im the dumbshit the started this thread........

Take your time on this. cause heres a page that will scare you.
