...I noticed the first time I did this mod, I was averaging another 2 mpg. Then in an attempt to find out why my truck was cutting out ( another thread ), I reinstalled the tube and forgot about it.
...Recently I decided to test it again. Once again I removed the tube, did some testing and am up another 2 mpg. Some report positive results...others report nothing.
...I find this 4.0 runs better with the mod. First time I tried to remove the airbox...it was a real pos to get out. There are a lot of write ups on doing this mod. However, the box need not be removed. Once the filter is out the tube and " plastic piece " in behind the headlight can be removed with the box in place.
