So I disabled my belt-minder chime, but now I want to completely remove the wiring harness fro the seats becaus they are annoying and I take the seats out alot so it's a PITA to have to unclip them every time.. But when I put the seats back in and don't connect the harnesses the air bag light comes on. Is there any way to trick the sensor by completing the circuit or removing the wires from the computer or something? I don't exactly know how the system works but I really hate modern "conveniences" like this.. So yeah, anyone know how to get rid of these things without having the airbag light come on?

try unpluggin the restraint system module, under a black cover in the middle of the foor, under the dash

is that what that thing is? it's not going to disable the air bags is it? i still need to pass inspection..

yeah thats it, well yeah its going to disable 'em, but u can plug it back when u need too

hmm.. im kind of looking for a more permanent solution.. anyone got a wiringin diagramof how the system works? or maybe could i swap it with an older model that has airbags but no seat belt minder things?

the 00 to down models dont have the annoying seat belt reminder from the 01 and up, one quick trick is to push the release button in your seatblet receiver when the thing starts dinging, even if u dont have the seatbelt buckled, that way it keeps shut

oh, i've successfully done the BeltMinder disable as described in the vehicle owner's manual so it doesn't beep anymore, but i want to take the entire BeltMinder system out of the truck but keep the airbags functional and prevent any lights from comming on. if I replace the current controle module with one from an '00 or earlier and take out the wiring harnesses from the seats do you think i'd have any issues with airbag deployment or the airbag light comming on?

well i dont know for sure, sorry i cant help anymore, maybe best thing is to leave the stuff as it comes from factory, i thing that if u leave the seats unplugged the system may still be working, but every time u start your truck is going to be beeping to warn u something is not working, better talk to someone pro for this stuff

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to mention how helpful it was in solving the beeping problem on my 96 Ranger. Since there no seatbelt minder on the older model Rangers I didn't have to worry about that. That narrowed it down to the airbag light. I replaced the airbag light on the instrument cluster and made sure the fuse for the airbag was good and it solved my problem. It had been driving me crazy for the last year and a half. Thanks everybody!

Airbag light...replaced it and no more beeping.

ooo, maybe thats the problem on my brother's truck, the light doesnt work, and it beeps everytime we turn it on
gonna check this
thanks
