Hey guys, I'm looking into an AGR pump for my '99 4.0...but the application only goes to 1997...I find this interesting because any other website (Advance Auto/Autozone, etc.) lists the same pump # for 1999, '96, '97. Any ideas?

Rockauto.com shows the same pt#s for '97 & '99 for some brands of pumps, while other brands show different #s for those years.
I suspect there could possibly be some minor difference between the factory pumps for each year (pressure valve setting?), though it probably wouldn't be something that would prevent being able to swap them.

Have you called AGR to see if they have any info about it?

'98 is when they switched to rack and pinion steering. Perhaps the upgraded pump might damage the rack? I can see there being differences though.

4x4, no I haven't contacted AGR but I planned on it..Ledd...ohhh, I didn't think about that! This is my 2nd reman'd (first was the saginaw conversion...was STILL noisy, and that pump was meant for a 70-something Ford F-series...this pump I'm running now is the standard one for my '99 from Advance Auto, it is SOO noisy). I don't get it. My brother has a '98 Mazda and my dad had a '99 Ranger and both of their pumps were pretty much QUIET!!! A SLIGHT whine and that's it. Lucas additive has done NOTHING for both pumps.
