can a guy put 2.8 liter lifters in a 2.9 as long as they are hydrlic cause i want a stronger lifter and i know that they make some aftermarket ones for the 2.8. Im pretty sure it would work but figued i would ask around.

Not sure, but what is wrong (too weak) with the 2.9 lifters? They get the job done fine.

ive had troubles with the 2.9 lifter casue they arent as strong the lifter get soft after awhile so i figured going to a 2.8 lifter would be better

They make 2.8L Hyd. Lifters and Cam?

I've heard that 390 lifters would work from an FE engine, but I have nothing to back that up.

Actually, I justed checked a site that sells lifters; The 2.9L and 390 are calling for the same part # for lifters.. Something to look into, maybe a little cheaper than trying to get frankenstien Hyd. 2.8L lifters.. Definitely would want to measure and cross fingers. What sucks is that the heads need to be removed to get the lifters back out, best to make sure it's right.
