Hey guys im new here and new to rangers altogether, ive got a 2003 ranger fx4 level 2. I was looking into lifting it and know about the whole torsion bar thing but ive seen aftermarket torsion keys and taller shackle kits. Are these tosrion keys bad news or ok to use? thanks alot

i have the same truck but with a 5 speed manual i have seen them too and was kinda wondering about them

I know people who have used them, but all you're doing is adjusting the suspension farther downward. You lose what downtravel you have plus increase the angles on the already not-so-strong CV joints.

The aftermarket keys just allow you to adjust the bars more than stock, which isn't necessary and shouldn't be done due to the angles eating up ball joints and tie rods. You should be able to get the 1.5-2" (recommended height) of lift from your stock keys by adjusting the bolt.

ok well, it lookis like ill just go with taller shackles in the rear and the torsion lift up front without the keys. Thanks alot guys

Just wondering, but with the taller shackels in the rear and the bars turned would i be able to fit a 33-12.50-15? or maybe a 32-11.50-15? this question has probably been asked a thousand times sorry guys

I own an 02 fx4 and i did the torsion and only got an inch out of it. I'm thinking my sway bar is becoming tired. With these new keys it would only bump it back up to stock or little past without changes angles right (if i stoped at stock height)

You could go with a key or you could go with stiffer T-bars.
I believe they go lettered from D to L with D being softest.
