Aftermarket shifters?

Hey everyone, new guy here. I just picked up my 2009 Ranger Sport last friday, and have a modification in mind already. I'm a tall guy, so I have the seat all the way back, and the shifter (manual) is just a little farther away than I'd like. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket shifter that would be a bit closer to the driver? I've checked Hurst and B&M, but they don't seem to have anything for this truck. Any help would be great, thanks!
 
Hurst is the only company that makes an aftermarket shift for the Ranger. See the link posted below. Do not go by the application chart as it hasn't been updated. Any part for an '03 will work on a '09.

You could also get a '03 FX4 Level II shifter arm, ball, and boot from the dealer, but it would run you around $400.

Here is my old '97 with a FX4 arm, ball, and boot installed:

There was one guy who just removed his shifter and bent it back in a banch vise. Cheap, easy, effective.
 
Thanks for the tips guys! Mjones, I like the look of the Hurst in your truck, so that's definitely an option for me. ChrisS, I really like the price of your idea too - free is always good in my book!
 
Mine wasn't the Hurst. I had the Ranger FX4 Level II shifter. The Hurst is a flat piece of steel.
 
ive had a hurst now for over 2 years. love it, it does seem more noise-y with it as the factory shifter/boot assy does a excellent job of cancelling /deading sound. i put a small extention on mine to raise the shifter ball about 2".

Go with the Hurst you will not regret it. I have no problems with mine and the noise doesn't really bother (probably because my truck is so freaking loud anyways) The click that the Hurst makes when changing gears is very reassuring and makes you want to slam the gears all day long. Plus they look freakin' amazing just take a look at the pics below \/

and extending it couldnt be easier, get a 3/8-16 all-thread coupler, a 3/8-16 bolt and cut the threads off, tighten the short threaded bolt into the coupler,thread the assy to the shift lever, use 3/8-16 nuts to "lock" things together and put on your 3/8 jam nut and shifter ball. i put a section of 5/8" heater hose over my "extender"

racsan I found your posts about the Hurst while looking up solutions for the fact that I have been driving with NO shifter bushings at all. I am sold on the Hurst now. Just a few more weeks and I should be getting one.
