I just updated my truck with a new 2010 XL, Reg. Cab, 2.3L Auto Ranger. The only options it has are the Cloth Seats and Automatic Transmission. Right now I'm looking for a Cruise Control for it. Ford told me they don't sell a kit so I'm looking in the aftermarket segment. So far I've only found this one by Rostra:

It seems to be a direct plug-in for the fly-by-wire system in the 2010's. Has anyone had experience with this company and their cruise controls? I can't find much in the way of reviews on the net. Thanks.

not sure about rangers, but with newer ('04 up) f150's all you have to do is plug in ford's buttons, then have a dealer program your computer to "recognize" the cruise. should only cost 1 hour of dealer time (even though its a much quicker job)

i've been meaning to do it to my F150, but i haven't really missed it.

if the new rangers are drive by wire, then you should be able to do the same thing.

Hmmm... Ford parts counter said that they didn't sell a kit, I never thought about asking for the parts individually. Are the F150 buttons on the steering wheel or can they be added? I don't even want to know what a Ranger steering wheel w/airbag assembly will cost just for the buttons.

http://z.about.com/d/trucks/1/0/s/Y/06_f150_xl_cockpit.jpg see f150 have dummy switchs, the ranger may be the same remove the air bag(unplug batt wait 15mins) and see if there is a place for a plug on the clock spring for switches, if not that will have to be replaced and follow the clock spring main harness down the column and see if the main plug on the ranger side has extra pins if it does cruise should be plug and play.

Yeah Most auto companies nowdays just add in the complete harness from factory. That way when it gets to the dealership and a person buys it but wants a few extra options then the deal can add them with little or or no effort. Such as the fog lamps, cruise control, power options like windows and locks and many other things.

Ford has a complete kit for my 96 Ranger. My truck orginally didn't have it, bought the kit and had the dealer install it.

my old 2000 xlt with the 2.5l didnt have any of the wiring for it that the only reason i said to check

There probably isn't a kit available yet just because Ford likes to drag their heels getting some of the add-on kits to market, especially around re-design years. I know the 11s are out already, but 10 is a still a pretty recent truck.
