Are these bumpers boxed in? Meaning there’s a plate that’s facing the truck and they’re not 3 sided? Planning on making my own this summer and want to compare to known products

What bumper are you referring to?

Elite Modular Front bumper. They don’t show it on any pictures

The wings are not boxed. The center section is.

I thought they had good pictures of all that.

The DIY version does. Guess I should’ve looked at it first. Thank you. And then I’m assuming the bumpers steel?

I can;t say about an 01, my 93 is, pretty sure the 96 Explorer is too.
What part of SD you in? I spent a winter up in the Black Hills around Deadwood and Lead, back when the Homestake mine was still open, and got stuck in a blizzard, west of Mobridge, think it was McGlauflin, there on Standing Rock Reservation

North of Sioux Falls for college. Can’t say I’ve spent much time in the black hills, but always wanted to go camping out there. Hoping I can do some this summer but we’ll see

It's a cool place man, shame they shut down the mine. Between Deadwood/Lead and Spearfish is some pretty country too. Good luck with your college

Yeah...Steel

The center box is a beast... 3/16 for the framing and skid. 1/4 for the winch plate. Wings are 1/8...

Be sure to show it off and share the build you do.

It will really increase your approach and lots clearance to the tire. I don't even feel bad buying mine... worth all of the entry price.

Right now I’m thinking 3/16 for about everything. Going get it modeled out in Solidworks and mess with simulations. Be a lot smarter to buy one, but making one will be a lot more fun. I have a brush guard currently, but with the way it’s mounted, it won’t do a darn thing against a deer

It would be fun...

I think I figured the AOR offering added just about 50lbs as built. Careful of the weight.

You planning for a winch too?

Got the big TBars already?

On the website it’s listed as 90 lbs. I’m going make a winch box, but actually getting one is up in the air. By TBars do you mean the torsion bars?

Yes sir...

I think there are three sizes...

Obviously... the big bars will carry the extra load better.

I have whatever stock is. Truck's got the off road package, so if Ford offered stronger ones from factory I'm assuming I got it. Do you know how I'd check? If I noticed too much sagging I was going adjust the torsion bars accordingly.

Article in the Tech Library...

My internet is slow tonight or I'd post a link.

I just picked up some number 1 bars used. Were from an FX4. There are numbers/letter stamp on the bar. But a pair of calipers to take a measurement works just as well.

A crank will pick it up... but the bigger bars are the real way.
