just get a bleeder drain from like a cat filter...lil rubber deal. when the water is heavy enough it drips out. its just a trap door really.

It's 40 thousands aluminum, so it wont rust. RB

Hey, that's sweet!
I was thinking, on the airbox drain. Just thread a hose nipple into the bottom of the box and run a hose down to the bottom of the frame and put a bolt in it. If any water gets in the box just pull the bolt and it will drain. You might want to put it in an end (sideways) so that it is draining right off the floor.
Also this is the one point that I can see that a K&N filter would benefit. When a paper filter gets wet it falls apart.

the trap valves are low maintenance, which is why i plan to use one with the diesel...if it does get gooey out...just pull the box open to make sure you dont have to hose out the goo that could plug the valve...

i have not had as much an issue with paper falling apart. but it plugs off hard core. so i like the k&n's.

So, did you get your trans issues resolved?

I used D2 C4 valve bodies in both the C5 in the BII and the C5 that I had in my explorer. The 4.0 Auto starter works just peachy with the C5 bell and 2.8L C5 flex plate.

To fix your shift issues put a shift kit in the C4 valve bod and put a V8 Intermediate servo into the C5. The stock 2.8L application "O" servo is tiny. you want at least an "A".

I use this filter with the C4 valve body and C5 4x4 pan:

What converter did you end up with?

I'm using a C5 out of an 85 B2 that once upon a time was rebuilt. I put a new vacuum modulator and a white pin in it along with a Ranger SR5 valve body and the tranny works but it is too soft for my liking. It seems to be holding up as I beat the snot out of it at Silver Lake sand dunes.
I tried a C4 VB on it and it would only move forward but it would not shift and there was no reverse.
My 4.0L has 248,000 miles on it so it's kinda like a 2.8L, so my thinking is when this engine decides it's had enough I'll put my spare 4.0L with only 86,000 on it and when i do that I'll give the C5 a fresh rebuild and try the C4 VB and class A servos.
It has whatever TC was in it. Probably stock but it works good with the 1/4 million mile motor.
I only have two complaints with this setup. Spongy shifts and no engine breaking. However it wheels great! RB

Yesterday I spent the day working at a new OHV park that will be opening this spring. We cut a new trail in about 1/4 mile long along with 2 new mud runs. The one water hole we found looked very deep so I backed into it and there was water running in around the rear gate seal. I said no thanks! I had a chance to run some of the trails while i was there. There was a narrow and steep hill climb that had not been conquered yet, and there had been a 06 Rubi unlimited roll on it 2 weeks ago, So up it i went! Took me about 4 tries but I got it. There wasn't room at the top for me to go on through so i then had to back down it. There was a rock wall trail there too and i run that also. I'm really starting to like the BroncoStar! RB

Man, I bet that thing pisses alot of other wheelers. I bet it feels sweet to out-wheel everyone in a flippin van.

It's when i pull them out, that they feel the sting! RB
