advice on next 4.0 motor

my 4.0 motor blew or something, loud clanking, valve covers off and i noticed they werent getting oil, bought truck like this, its a 99. i am swapping in a mazda five speed from my 2002. anyways, should i swap in the same motor or should i look for a newer 4.0, or a explorer motor. thanks. wes

i have ready over thirty threads, with different answers, till not sure

will a sohv motor from a 99 to 01 explorer, swap directly into my 99 ohv 4.0 if i swap the computer from the sohv; or are there other necessary splices?
