I have a 94 ford ranger head with 40tho off and a stock cam shaft I'm just trying to find out how far advanced I need to set the cam camshaft. I do have a adjustable cam gear to make it a little easier

I don't know either. But am following along to learn with you.
Perhaps you also need to tell what your end goal is. High rpm? Off the line torque? Drag Racing? Circle track? Road racing? Daily driver? Better mpg?

The stock camshaft shaft is best between 800 and 4500 rpm its a small build right now for my daily driver/autocross truck
