Adjusting the m5od 5th/reverse eccentric

I changed the bearings in my m5od transmission, though I don't think I touched the 5th/reverse eccentric. Unfortunately, the transmission is installed, so adjusting it isn't so easy as when it was out. Anyway, reverse works fine, but it pops out of 5th. Is there any tips on adjusting the eccentric? Should I just try to get the throw the same between reverse and 5th, and test/adjust?

Take the clamp off and move it, it may take a while to get it right. But it sounds more like you put the sychro on backwards when putting it together.

what do you mean backwards? It looked like it could only go into the slider one way. If I flipped it 180 degrees, well, the flange wouldn't fit into anything.

or, do you mean I swapped the 5th syncro in place of the reverse syncro and vise versa? Sounds like my best bet is hauling it out of there and taking a look in side. Any pictures of which syncro goes where and which way the slider goes? At least I don't have to dig far to get into the reverse/5th stuff.

Them synchro's are the same. You can put the slider part for the synchro on backwards and it does exactly what you are describing.

I see. I do remember having to take that slider off to get the keys back in, could easily have put it in backwards. Do you know if the hub is directional as well?

Could be either or with that one. But the nice thing about that is if the adjustment don't work you can take the trans apart while it is still in the truck.

I think I'd rather take it out. You still need to take the top cap off, so you've gotta take the seats and carpet out, and the transfercase off, it's only a tiny bit more work to get the whole thing out and on the bench. Thanks guys, I think that's what I'm going to do. Reduce the guessing and just take a look inside again.
