I am looking at installing a bronco tank into my 1990 ranger like v8-ranger did here
attachment.php

I found an 87 tank with sending unit and such. Can anyone tell me if the sending unit will work with my ranger fuel gauge? not sure if it makes much difference but the sending unit is the 2" style not the 3 5/8 style.

i put a second, 27 gallon tank in my '83. i just hooked it and the original tank up to a marine manual multi-tank switch. i fill the aux tank (no sending unit at all) and use out of it first. when it goes empty, i just switch over to the original tank and use the gauge that is on it til i refill everything.
if that b2 tank is the only tank you'll have then i'm not much help really. i think AllanD's also doing (or already has done) something like this as well.
good luck with this project

after several hours of research, it will work. 86 or 87 was the year that ford switched ohm values on the sending units. so it is the same values as the rangers.

Actually in 1989 Ford changed the fuel level ohm range to 145ohm (empty) 22.5ohm (full). All 1988 or older Fords (except for the 1987 & later Mustangs) came with a ohm range of 73ohm(empty) 10ohm(full). Your 1987 fuel level sending unit will NOT work with your 1990 Ranger's fuel level gauge. You can buy a second fuel level gauge up for around $20. to $30. here's the one I use in my 88.

Everything i have read said the 89 up ranger sending unit values are somewhere in the range of 16 ohms empty, 158 ohms full. which is what the 87 and up bronco sending units read as well when i put the multi-meter on it. so it will work if that is the case.
