My credo
Confused and Intolerant
What would I need to do to add an A/C unit to my ranger? Could I rip one out of any car? another ranger? aftermarket? what is cheapest, but not insanely dangerous or risky.

You'll need a heater box with evaporator, the controls for the dash, wiring harness, a compressor, condenser, a NEW accumulator and orifice tube, and all the hoses to connect them together.

And you should get all of this out of a similar year Ranger.

And you'll need about 40 spare hours to get it done.....but that's cheaper than the route I took.....$1,000 for a Vintage Air Kit.....a one-day job for normal people...LOL

I want an A/C because it will help when doing long distance traveling in the future. I have a lot of unsaid plans for this ranger I have.

1 of my 1985 bii's had a/c, and another 1985 i had did not, much like the 1988 i have does not

Its alot of work but go for it! You're going the opposite direction of me, I tore mine out.
