Question for ADSM:

On my '10 XLT, I have a 3.55 axle, open diff. 5100 GVWR if that makes a difference. I want to go to an LSD without tearing the axle out and replacing. Possible?

Whew! For a minute there I thought this was a drug ad or a political commentary on how crazy the world has gone with the upcoming election...

With the right amount of LSD anything is possible though...:)

Still a goof I see. :icon_twisted:

How ya doin' Mark?

Good and goofy thanks! How about you?

About the same. Need to start spending some time here like in the old days.

It's a fairly straightforward thing to do, you just need a trac-loc carrier and everything that goes inside it. It would require having the gears set up, something an offroad shop would do. Depending on how good you are at sourcing parts, it could cost anywhere from $250-$500.

If it were me doing it I would probably find an axle that already has a limited slip installed and your gear ratio of choice. Probably will be a lot cheaper and your chances of finding an axle for a '10 in good condition are pretty good.

Sounds reasonable.

Now just need to find one...
