i want to add freon to a 1996 ranger 2.3,where is the connection.
thanks

The high pressure service port is located on the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line. The low pressure service port is located in the evaporator to compressor suction line.

The system spec is 1.38 lbs of R134a refrigerant.

so looking at the truck it would be on the left side since the compressor is on the right side.

the low side is port just behind and to the right of the coolant overflow tank and the wiper fluid tank is a black cylinder (about the size of an extra large oil filter)with two lines coming out of it ... There is also a smaller line (a few inches long sticking straight up) which seems as if the adapter from this can of refrigerant would fit onto.

the high side port will be in the line between the compressor and the condensor(in front of the radiator) it will look just like the low side port

Belated thanks to my question,my son took it to a mechanic so I never got around to actually putting freon in his truck.
Now it leaked out slowly and I need to no is it the high side or low side I put the freon in,is it on the clyinder or some other tube.
THANKS AGAIN

Have you fixed the leak?

The ports are Murphy-proofed.

Your servicing hose simply won't fit onto the high side connection, so you can't err.

Never attempt to charge an A/C system through the high side port. It can back-feed and blow the can. Compare the line sizes where your hoses connect if you aren't sure which is which. The larger lines are suction and carry lower pressures. That's where you charge. If you're using manifold guages, the blue line is your low pressure side, red is high. Only time you open the high side is when you are evacuating or vacuuming the system. If you're using a "cheater hose", it only fits the suction/low side.
