Hi All,

I recently purchased a very nice 1993 Ranger XLT 4 cyl 5 speed from my father in law. I've been having fun working on it, replacing the brakes, new tires, etc...The only thing I wish it had was air conditioning as it gets pretty here. Has anyone attempted to add air conditioning? I was thinking of going to a salvage yard and acquiring the parts. Am I asking for trouble?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Alan...

To start, did the Ranger even have A/C to begin with? If not, its going to take a whole lot of parts and wiring too, to get it done. If lucky, the plugs may just already be there. Just not the hardware parts.

My guess is that Ford only had one under hood harness, wired for all options. Even my '87' came with the A/C as a no cost option. I'd have to look back in one of older wiring diagrams but don't think they made any distinctions.
