ACTUAL MPG Thread

Lots of back and forth in the other thread, so lets start a thread with JUST what you have, and what you HONESTLY average Highway/City/Mixed etc.

I'll start as an Example:

Truck #1:
2000 Ford Ranger Supercab, Stepside bed, Offroad package.
4.0 OHV V-6
Factory 16' rims with 245's and stock profile
all OEM skidplates underneath.
Late 2000 model year so Perma-locked front hubs.
Open 3.73's
5R553 Auto.

New plugs/wires/coilpack/battery/airfilter at the start of the season.

Over winter I have managed 14.8-15.3 stop and go, 17.8-18.1 strictly highway.

Truck #2:
1998 Ford Ranger Std. cab, Stepside bed, 2wd
5.0 OHV V-8
Factory 14' 'bubble' rims, 26 inch tire diameter.
4.10 LSD Rear end
4R70W Transmission
Fresh everything after the V-8 swap
Lowered 2/3 (Front/back)

Over summer It was getting 14-15 in town, and 15-16 on the highway doing 70-75

If this has already been done, could an admin kill my thread and move my post?

If it has not, maybe it could be a sticky in the Tech articles section or something?

There are several threads on this subject. Just search it and see what I mean.

I get over 22 mpg combined driving on my 99 lifted 2wd 4.0 with 33x12.5 KO tires and a Yakima roof rack with a fairing.

My '87 ranger had manual hubs, 5 speed, 2.3 liter, 3" lift, 32x11.50 mud terrains and a roll bar with 3 KC daylighters. I was getting 9mpg in town 12 mpg highway on a good day. Usually a quarter of tank to work and another going home, All highway.

My 86 B2 gets about 14-18 but thats about 60mph roads around here are slow and town traffic moves slow.If I went 70 and fought traffic it would be around 12-15 It does have 10.5 33s 4.10s and a 4.0 manual.The mileage is almost exactly the same as when it had 31s 4.10s 2.9 auto.

i get about 10-14 city driving, depending on traffic conditions
i get around 20-22 all highway at 60-65

havent checked it since i went from 61 to 59 jets so im not sure what it is now, and im hoping the fm146 swap will help out

Well I guess heres my trucks:

Truck #1 -

1999 Ford Ranger
Supercab (4D)
stepside bed
3.0L V6 / 5spd Manual
locked in Hubs
3.73 gearing / 31" M/T tires on D-window steels (35psi)

Mods include - K&N drop in filter, 2.5" Dynomax Exhaust, 8mm wires/Iridium plugs, 130 amp alternator, 6 5x7 KC lights mounted up front.

I usualy get about 15 - 17 city in the winter and 17 - 19 in the summer, And 20 - 23 highway in the winter and 21 - 25 in the summer.

Truck #2 -

1984 Ford Ranger
Standard Cab
Long bed
2.8L V6 / 5spd Manual
unlocked hubs
3.73 gearing

Mods include - Duraspark conversion W/ 4 point GM HEI module

With no lift and 235/75R15's I got 16 - 18 city and about 23 - 24 highway winter or summer.

With a 3" BL and 265/75R15's I got about 14 - 17 city and about 19 - 21 Highway summer only.

I'll play so I can compare. Here's my stats:

96 Ranger Supercab
4.0 OHV (117,XXX miles)
4R55E Transmission
4X4
265/75-15 (30.7 inches roughly)
UPDATE: It has 3.73's.....forgot to put that in there

I get 15-16 mpg using it as my DD with a 50/50 mix of freeway and city driving. I have gotten as high as 19mpg with 80/20 freeway/city.
I don't think it will get much better than 20.

i get 17 no matter what... mixed, all highway, or all city...

2K4 FX4. 4.0, auto, 4.10's, stock tires, 19.5 gallon tank, 40K miles.

In the summer, I can easily get 18-21 MPG. My personal best was 354 miles on a tank.

In the winter, my mileage drops to 8-12 MPG. My personal worst was something like 145 miles on a tank.

All my driving is city.

This was my DD, mostly in the Winter. 2005 with 4.0L, manual, 4.10 gears and 265's. Just freeway driving, could get maybe 18 mpg in Winter but just over 21 in Summer. The SOHC 4.0 does get better mileage. My Summer DD in good weather is the Mustang that gets about the same mileage but 2.5 times the HP.

1993 4x4 4.0l 5spd with welded auto hubs so fully locked 24/7. 33x12.50x15's and 3.55's, no lift. The last time I put gas in I put in 11 gallons and had drove 131 miles so about 11mpg, with bad alignment. i recently adjusted the alignment and will update with new mileage results. When i had 3.27's and 235's i got around 18 mpg city a little better highway. and when I had 3.27 and 31's I got a little worse.

2003 reg. cab, 2wd, 2.3l 5spd. 235/75r15's. 23 city/27 hwy, and I don't worry about trying to drive efficiently.

2007 Suzuki GSX-R600, K&N air filter, 32 city/39 hwy. Much better mileage and much more fun!

i get slightly better than you, about 1mpg but im a sohc, but same situation my truck hatessss the cold/winter blend in terms of fuel mileage
