Any of you audiophiles have any experiance with active crossovers?

I was looking at this one, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_21980_Kicker+KX2+-03KX2-.html

And i have a perfect spot to mount it, But would it help my sound quality immensely?

And yes, I do have bass and treble amps. So the RCA config wouldnt matter.

(Its kinda nice to run a slave head unit, hook up power and go, Changing radios is easyy.)

Anyhow... Does anyone have one?

Well you use cross overs to set the frequency range your speakers get, that way your tweeters aren't playing bass and what not. Generally I just stick with the cross overs that come with component systems as the guys from alpine or what ever brand you have do a better job with them then I can. When I do need a cross over I usually have an electrical engineering buddy help me out.
So the short of it I suppose is it -can- help your sound quality so your speakers aren't playing things they weren't made to. Generally all speakers have graphs to show you what they frequencies they cover without distorting. Look at those and set the cross overs accordingly.
