I am a newbie for auto a/c system repair and I have spend over 3 and half months doing research on the ranger a/c system here on the TRS forums in which I found it to be very informative for just about all problems concerning the a/c system. the first thing I did is first of all get the a/c parts (compressor, evaportor, condenser, orficie tube accumulator) equiment (manifold gauage, air compressor). afterwards ready to take on the repair project. with the manifold gauge I proceeded to hook up the manifold gauge to the low and high service ports, but to my supprise, in the low service port I have found that the charging adapter or needle was missing.

as you can see in the pics. I went back to TRS forums in hope that I may be able to find a post with this kind of problems, but found none. The question I would like to ask is this, with that adaptor; possibly fell into the accumulator,
with that open hole would mean that the freon (all of it) leak out? and there might be no pressure in the system? I have not use the a/c for maybe over a 3 year period. there is no way I could test the a/c with the manifold gauge with that hole.
my ranger is a 96 XL 2.3L
any advice would be very helpful
Thanks
