Hey i have a 85 ranger 2.8 5 speed. With a 2150 E57E-BA carb. I recently rebuilt it and the instructions for accelerator rod placement said that i should have have 4 holes for adj. Well i only have 3. It was orginally in the top hole. But just wanting to know which one it shold be in. Thanks

Use second hole(middle)
If acceleration seems to tapper off before jets take over then switch to top hole.
If engine bogs a bit(floods) on acceleration switch to bottom hole.

Accelerator pump pushes extra gas into the air stream when throttle is pushed down, this allows for quicker rich fuel/air mix for acceleration, the amount of extra gas you want depends on the engine volume, carbs are usually not made for a specific engine displacement, with a larger engine you may want more extra fuel pumped in, smaller engine less fuel.
Which is why there are adjustments like these.
