Acceleration improvement ideas?

I wouldnt run 4.88s and 33s on a DD. (but i drive 75+ miles a day just to get to work and back...Gas mileage matters to me.)

4.10s to 4.56s isnt much of a difference, BUT in racing every little bit helps. If you think it will help, even a little bit, do it.

I would imagine that you should be able to run 4.88 on the road. You'll probably run out of gear sooner (no more flying down the highway at 90 mph) but you should be able to do highway speeds with no problems.

Without knowing what your BII had in it, the front axle may have been a D-28, in which case yes, deeper gears can get ugly. Your Ranger has a D-35 IFS (offhand I don't remember what the rotation is), which has larger gears than a D-28 so it should be easier to work with (downside is they're not as accessible as the older axles).

As far as a T-case goes, anything will fit. Just ask Gwaii. :icon_rofl:

The 98+ is going to be a Dana 35, I believe reverse rotation, but don't hold me to that.

My first thought for the OP was to use something like in the link instead of regearing axles or transfer case.

Running that in low range with the ransfer case in high range would give a little numerically higher gearing over the transfer case, and keep the street use as stock (or near to it.).

the B2 has a D35 out of 92 explorer. Yes the reason I am thinking T-case would be the way to go is high range is still 1:1, so it would not effect street use, but give me the lower range wile racing in 4 low.
