Im having a problem when I accelerate from a stop with my 99 ranger 4x4.

I do not think it is motor related…. This only happens after coming from a complete stop then accelerating. The hiccup doesn’t happen until I press the gas. Nothing happens when I let off the brake and begin to roll. It only happens when I hit the gas. Here is a list of everything I have replaced in the last year that I thought could have caused this problem.

I tried to see if the motor mounts were causing this feeling, but couldn’t tell?

-New shackles with all new bushings in the leafs.
-New Shocks.
-New limited slip carrier.
-All new rear brakes with cylinders and hardware.
-New Transmission last year. Had this problem before and after new transmission.

Thanks for any suggestions.

my truck does this occasionally, its the spark plug wires shorting out on the firewall

I really do not think this is ignition related. It seems like it is something moving? I also replaced the plugs and wires within the last year.

well explain "hiccup" it feels like the engine cuts out? or there is a shudder when taking off?

It is really hard to explain, but is really pissing me off! It feels like something is catching when i hit the gas..... it really doesnt feel like the engine is cutting out.

Yes, I know this hiccup you are talking about. I put new plugs and cables on my 99 Ranger and after a few months the hiccup started. It was driving me crazy. I thought it was the MAF, maybe it was time for an induction cleaning. I put fuel injector cleaner in and drove it for another tank full and it was still there. I took my truck to out Goodyear place. I had to pay to get the truck hooked up to the diagnostic machine ($29.95). It was a stupid plug that had a small crack in it. It was the #2 cylinder that was going in and out and causing the hiccup. A new plug installed and it was back to normal....darn, I put new plugs in there...what happened......duh!! Never thought it was a plug since they were all new. Check into the plugs or the cables, Bro.
