I just got an 86 B2 with AC. I have no use for it. Can I just use a belt that doesn't turn the pump?

Actually that is a totally seperate belt. Just take that off and all other accessories will run.

Last year I deleted my system. Its easy, just make sure that there is no pressure in the system. I even left my AC heaterbox in. There was really no reason other than to free up some space under the hood.

I would like to know about how you removed it. I too just want more space under the hood. And it is my winter driver. I have a different car for the summer.

I'm in the middle of a 2.9 repower on a 90.
The 87 engine I put in had a compressor, my original had no AC.

It was literally as simple as remove the compressor. I don't recall if it was driven by a third belt, but I think it was.
The end result is I still have two belts that are exactly the same length.

If you want to see some pictures, got to my album in photobucket, same username as this forum. I'd post pictures but I can't access photobucket from work. The engine on the engine stand is the 87 replacement and I'm pretty sure I took pictures of it before and after I removed the compressor. The pictures with the engine actually in the truck (with red tape covering stuff) is the original, no AC.

I believe I swapped over some bracketry, but it's been so long since I actually worked on that project that I can't remember. It still hasn't been finished.

I seem to recall still needing both belts though. One goes crank, WP, Alt and the other goes crank, WP, PS.

Yeah I'm down to two belts. I took off the AC belt only.

To remove everything, make sure there is nothing in the system and just start unbolting, starting with the compressor. When you get to the condenser up in front of the radiator you can either remove the grill and take it off of the front of the radiator or just snip the little pipes and break them off. I didn't do that so that I could always reinstall if I wanted to (I ended up junking my system anyway)

Don't forget to tie the electrical connectors away from the fan or the exhaust manifolds too!
