AC compressor

1989 4X4 2.9 auto,Factory air.Compressor and entire ac system replaced 6 years ago Now ac compressor leaking, mechanic says new compressor is needed. Would a compressor repair kit stop the leak? Not questioning my mechanic just wanting to save money come next spring.Thanks

Depends on where it's leaking. It may be cheaper to replace it than get the tools and seal. That way you know it has the oil it needs and will last a long time. Was it a rebuilt compressor?
