Have a look at this thread.

I just threw the OE A/C away and put a VintageAir system in. It was NOT easy or cheap! Some drawbacks: the system does not draw outside air and if it does due to leaky door/window seal, it will freeze up the evaporator and reduce the efficiency. The ductwork behind the dash does not allow airflow as forceful as desired. Advantages: when it is working it is really good (100 degree + days for the last 35 days here in TX). Lots of room to access the passenger side of the engine. Using the Explorer FEAD allows use of a OE compressor and mounts and OE belt. I'm still working on the ductwork to get the airflow where I it and I'm replacing my old window and door seals to fix the freezing problem.

OP - What year truck do you have?

A 3 inch body lift provides the necessary clearance.

Hmmm... looks like you already have a body lift...

@85_Ranger4x4 is just finishing up this task... he may have something to add here.

Heat gun and gently reshape the housing.

Easy with short valve covers. Tall covers will complicate things.

CAUTION; objects on engine bay may be larger than you previously assumed they would be.

I have tall valve covers to accommodate the roller rockers.

If you can't form it enough you might have to trim and form it with sheet metal or fiberglass. There is a ton of room on the back side to play with.

Go slow with the heat gun, if it gets gooey and you try to work it you are screwed.
