AC Accumulator Oil Amount

1994 ford ranger.

Replaced AC. Dad doing what he does somehow knocked over the old one and spilt the oil onto the ground.

Most say measure the oil from the old one and put that amount into the new one. Again, he spilt most of the oil. I have no idea how much was in the old one.

Drier/Accumulator from Rockauto is also bigger than old one.

How much oil do I put into it? Is it pag 46 oil like the condensor? Does it matter if the new one is bigger than the old one?

The size of the accumulator doesn't matter, you use the same amount of oil no matter what size the accumulator is. The oil doesn't stay in the accumulator, it gets dispersed through the system with the refrigerant. So yes, use PAG 46, since it's going to get mixed with the oil in the condenser anyway.

The total system oil capacity is 7 oz. You know how many ounces you put in the condenser and compressor right? So if you put say, 3 oz in the condenser and compressor, that means you need to put 4 oz in the accumulator to give you 7 oz total.

Took it to a mechanic. Said just put 1.5oz in the drier, leave the 7oz thats already in the condenser(or whatever is apart of the belt) alone.

Ended up not being able to put the belt back on. Got the wrench in the tensioner stuck between the fan.

That's the compressor. The condenser is the big thing that looks like a radiator, located right behind the grille. I'd be sketched out having that much oil in the compressor. A compressor, compresses refrigerant. Liquid oil is not compressible. When a compressor tries to compress something that's not compressible, things break. I like to pour a maximum of 3 oz in the compressor, and turn it by hand to kind of distribute the oil and make sure the compressor can turn ok with the oil in it, and put the rest of the oil in the accumulator.
