ABS trouble?

I am looking to put a Detroit locker in my 2001 Ranger, because I somehow grenaded the rear end even though I didn't abuse it. Anyways, as I was looking into the diff I was wondering if i can somehow transfer the ABS ring to the detroit or if thats even possible. I want a locker, but I don't want to have to stare at the ABS light on the dash everywhere I go. Does anyone know if it will turn the light on if I don't switch the ring over? Or if it is even possible to switch it to the detroit. Thanks for any info.

Missing the tone ring will cause the sensor to fault out. This will turn the ABS light on on the dash.
You can remove the light from the dash panel if you want, or see if detroit locker has a tone ring compatible carrier. The tone ring from the Ranger is a press on (IIRC), so you may have to press it off the old carrier and onto the detroit locker.

Thanks for the help. Anyone else got any info? Is there an aftermarket locker with the tone ring? What's the best idea? I don't want an open diff but I don't want to stare at the abs light (and I don't want to remove it). Ideas?

Not only will you have an ABS light on your '01, your speedometer won't work either, and you'll also likely get a Check Engine light too (all that stuff runs off the sensor in the rear diff).

Fortunately it is only just a matter of pressing the tone ring onto the Detroit's carrier (it fits fine).
