so i decided to swap in an explorer 8.8 just cause it'll be relatively easy, i want to go to disk brakes but don't the '96 and newer explorers have abs? my '87 does not have abs and i wasnt sure if that would be a problem or how i could bypass that if it was

No big deal....you just won't plug the sensor on the top of the rear diff into anything. It'll just be there to plug the hole in the axle housing.

I'm looking into swaping a 8.8 off an explorer with disc brakes into my 92 Ranger and wondering if there will be any issues with connecting the emergency brake cabling...

Thanks,
Dan

Little bit. The Ranger's cables have a spring and bulb at the end that hold them to the actuator. The Explorer has slots that latch onto the actuator.

Buy the rear cables for the Explorer and you should be fine.
