If one wheel spins faster for so long than the other one it will confuse the computer and it will throw the light on. I did it trying to get thru a little a foot of snow in my driveway last December (Christmas Day actually) in my F-150.
the tone ring on mine was full of gunk on the pass side...it would cause my abs light to turn on...get up under the truck and jack the front end up...spin the tire and see the ribbed section on the brake disc....make sure that theres no mud clogging the ribs up.
i got sick of my abs light coming on bc of that so i just took the abs computer out and threw in the trash i grew up driving 4 wheel drum brakes. i am happy just having 4 wheel disc now. lol
but yes it is mud caked inside the tone ring. the abs sensor has to read a tooth and it cant read a tooth on a smooth surface lol
Thanx guys, I'll check it out. The ABS light was on for about 5 years on my last F-150 ...never did find the problem,so when I saw this I thought DAMN! We just got 3" of snow and supposed to get another 4" tonight, which is a big deal in Nashville.
