School me a bit on the ABS in my 2003 FX4 level II. Drove to my bank today and darned near drove right in the front door. I had stopped at a couple intersections before and brakes felt fine until I pulled up to the curb in front of my bank. When I braked there was basically nothing there and luckily there was a 18" curb to stop me from the brick wall. Being mostly focused on the brick wall, I think the ABS was making a lot of noise. A lady following me came up to see if I was ok and said they had heard a loud grinding noise. I was fine, just totally embarrassed. Did my business, maybe I should have taken out a loan on a new Ranger, and checked things out. Fluid was fine and brakes seemed fine so I drove home and stopped a bunch more and all seems well.
My shop is full right now so I having my son look at the brakes at the shop he works at in the very near future. I am thinking there are ABS sensors in each front wheel bearing and one in the rear differential?? Thoughts on this brake failure??
