Wasn't sure where to post it, so here it is.

I have a 93 3.0 2wd. The yellow RABS light is on. I have tried grounding the wire under the dash to flash codes, but it doesn't flash codes, just stays on constant. I have inspected the wiring back to the sensor on the differential, looks good. Any ideas, or better yet, has anyone seen one display this behavior? Trying to get this going for my boy's first truck, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Check if brake lights are working, if that fuse blows ABS light will be on.
Low brake fluid or corroded connector on master will also cause it.

Is the Red Brake light working?
If you set E-brake does that light come on?

Are you grounding the black/orange stripe wire with key on, and then ungrounding it after 2 seconds?

Brake lights working properly. Fluid is normal, connection at the resevoir is clean.
Red brake light in dash DOES work properly. Comes on with e-brake as well..

I was turning the key ON, and touching the black/orange to ground, but was HOLDING it there.. Didn't know to remove after two seconds. I'll go give that a shot and report back, thanks a bunch.

Grounded circuit, turned key on, waited two seconds, removed ground.. Still the same thing.. Tried to ground it after the key was on as well.. Same thing.. SOLID ABS light.. no changes

Did you try grounding it at the fuse box? If it's like my 1995 you can pull the test connector fuse (the one that is ABS only) and ground whichever side isn't hooked to 12V+ to pull the codes on the fly.

You should get codes if the ABS computer has power. Even if there is no codes, it will give the code for "normal operation". Are you sure you have the right wire? Mine is Black (orange stripe) on the ABS side and Red on the fuse side of the test connector.

My FSM ('94, pretty sure '93 is the same) says to ground the black/orange wire for 1-2 seconds (not unground it after 2 seconds). Not sure if that makes any difference.

I don't see anything in the book though about if the system fails self-check (light always on), and then not being able to retrieve any codes at all (closest item is a "self-check = OK, then no codes", but then the light would be off, not on solid).

Does the ABS light go off for a couple seconds after starting the engine, then does it turn back on? Or is the light on solid right away whenever the key is on?
