Hey guys, I've recently started having this problem with my Ranger after I had a friend pull me out of a ditch. (Sunk down due to really soft soil on the side of the road after I pulled over for just a second.)

But to put a long story short, after my buddy pulled me out I've noticed that on occasion when I lightly press my brakes to come to a slow stop that my breaks will lock up. (Which in return causes the tire screeching) Usually it's while I'm at a slow roll while approaching a red light.

When I was stuck in the ditch it was the passenger side, but the front passenger wheel was sunk a little farther than the passenger rear. On occasion my ABS light will have a consistent blinking (but it's very rare). Maybe I damaged the brake fluid line somewhere when I got pulled out? :icon_confused: I haven't had time to remove the tire to completely look for any damages, but I decided to make a quick post to see if any of you had the same type of issue before.

Any help would be appreciated. (sorry for the lack of detail and for any grammatical issues, it's late and I am getting tired)

Well If you sunk it you probably did something to the ABS sensor.

Does the ABS light stay on? If it flashes its probably displaying a code. Most lights in the vehicles will flash a code 3 or 4 times then just stay on.

I am going to say that you may have clogged the fins the sensor reads with mud or dirt and it has a hard time reading anything.

or the rear sensor (also VSS) maybe got water in the connection? I know when my ABS light was on it was because I ran through some deep water and the wire wrap that was designed to keep water out let water in and it was bridgeing the gap between the wires and causing the abs to haywire. Drained the water and it was fine.

Thanks for that bit of info! I will be off tomorrow and doing a bit of routine upkeep, I'll take off both wheels to search for any damage or if it's just clogged with mud. (Will take pics if any damages are noticeable)

I'll update when I'm done.
