ABS and brake lights on

Ok here's the deal. My ABS and brake lights come on when I press down hard on the brakes. First ABS then brake. Then sometimes the brake light goes out when I press down hard again. Then it will come on again when I press down hard again. But the abs will stay on during the whole time until I turn off the vehicle for a few hours then it goes out along with the brake light. But that was a couple weeks ago. Now it won't go off even if I turn it off. But it has been doing that randomly for a few days now. Some times it will go out. Other times it will not. But today I took it to school and got a code from it and it was reading 13 (from the flashing abs light method). So I was wondering what that was or was I reading it wrong and was getting a code 12. I understand that you add the short and long flashes to get the code. And that was what I got. I can't find what code 13 is on AllData so can anybody tell me what this code is or offer any suggesstions on what to look for?

Your symptoms sound like the brake fluid reservoir is low on fluid.

If you find that to be the case, you probably need brake pads.

That sounds about right. I need new rotors anyhow so I will replace my pads at that time too. Thanks for the insight.
