Hi all,

1998 Ranger Sport
2WD, 3.0L

Ok, I've rewritten this since I got the chance finally to look around, and discovered the issue with my brakes...rear drum brake assembly broke apart, though I'm not sure why. I initially reported a rattle in my front wheel well, some agressive ABS action while braking and hearing a "thumping" noise, and some "lively" vibration at high speed (I'm assuming that's when everything failed inside the drum). I'm also assuming everything I was experiencing was related to this issue, including the ABS and Brake lights coming on. I'll find out as soon as I rebuild my rear brake assembly.

Anyway, some questions:

1) What type brake fluid for the '98 model? I'm assuming DOT3, but I'd like confirmation.

2) Is there anything I need to do involving my ABS during or after reassembly, or will reassembling new parts clear the ABS light?

3) Can somebody provide a link to a good diagram that shows how all the parts go back together. Several of mine (mostly related to the self-adjuster and parking break) were loose inside the drum. I could pull the other side, and duplicate that, but with one jack, that's a bit more of an effort. A good diagram would do wonders.

Thanks.
