As the title says I'm getting ready to replace my 2.9 with rebuilt motor, any suggestions on how to make the process as pain free and quick as possible since I'm in college and time is a valuable commodity

Whatever time you allotted, times by two and add 20%.
Good luck,
Richard

Take the trans out. It saves time.

Also, the engine can be pulled out fully dressed, from fan to clutch, if the radiator is removed. I would remove the radiator.
