Depends on what you want done...how much you are doing yourself and of course the time frame figures in and wonder of all wonders money??

If you're get it all done at quality place...& going for radical cam, over sized valves, complete port & polish everything, high end componets, etc. ...pretty easy to wrap up $3500.and up.

pretty sure one can get a a crate motor, Like a Jasper for example, for about $1800. and be pretty much a remove and replace.

can it be done cheaper?....sure... but you would be doing A-LOT yourself...then if something goes wrong...like forgot to tighten down a componet, be it, a rod, a main, head, valve train, or if somthing simply fails, and it does happen, dispite the best of effort and planning...whatever....it is your baby...& your doing it again.

It boils down to what you're going for, time and money.

a better approach, in my opinion, is to swap in an engine with less miles. preferably a 4.0
