So i was driving down the street when suddenly by brakes go bad. I pull up to a driveway to see whats going on and my wheel is about to fall off. The owner of the driveway told me I had to move my truck, so i backed out and the freaking wheel fell off right in the middle of the street :bawling:. I call the towtruck and cant do it since he has to call CHP. CHP arrives 30 minutes later but the tow truck can't remove it so they call in a different truck with a flatbed. Anyway heres the picture!

Hmmm...same thing happened to me...on the passenger side...

The wheel bearing disintigrated and the wheel just works its way off the spindle...I fixed mine myself, but I had to replace the spindle, bearings, and at the time I just replaced the pads...

If the wheel comes right off there is a good chance that the caliper flex line got damaged, but you should be able to repair the whole thing for under $200 if you do the work yourself...

I woulda told the guy owning the driveway that I can't move it without the wheel falling completely off.... I woulda asked if I could move it off to the side of the driveway an find out what's going on before moving it further and risking breaking something.....

Ok, I prolly woulda just pulled off the road and not into someones driveway to start with but that's me...

Good luck with fixing it though! I'm sure it's not anything serious, just a lil work an it'll be back on the road in no time.

Seriously? I would have disconnected the brake line, tossed the rim/tire/hub in the bed and slung that thing. Could have had it hooked up and gone in 20 minutes.:icon_cheers:

Same thing happened to Burnside on the highway in his old 85.

Damn sounds pretty common of an occurrence!

Well get her fixed up! and Good luck!

Same thing happened to me last year. I heard the bearings getting worse then all the sudden the truck started jerkin across 2 lanes. luckily i got it off to the side. My wheel only attached to my truck by the brake hose. I was within a half mile from the shop where i worked.

**BTW, Nice flex!!!:icon_thumby:**

The owner of the driveway needs an ass beating. In a non-denominational, racially diverse, socially correct manner, of course. You could have legally worked on your truck there. No police officer will arrest you for him when your truck isn't safe to drive. Next time make him call the cops. They will call a wrecker so you have to fix it fast--like before the cops get there.

I don't think those bearings were set up properly. I had a wheel fall off--well, twice. It was the driver's side both times and I had my snow plow on both times and had just been plowing. The aluminum wheels will let the nuts work loose on the left front when you are working it hard like that. I've never had a bearing failure.

2 things.
1. That flippin sucks that it happened.
2. That guy was a major d!ck and deserves to be hit with a flying wheel.
