AAA Towing?

Tried, couldnt find a straight answer. May have been my wording but all I found was a bunch of people asking questions about towing.

Just call AAA. We have had them forever!!! They will be glad to give you a quote, Bro!!!

Before we went to AAA Plus, which allows up to 100 miles per tow, I remember the cost being $6 per mile over the 7 miles they allow.

Yeah, right now I'm added as a family member on my Dad's AAA Plus.

*facepalm* Call AAA, good diea. I've no clue why I didn't think of that before I posted. Other than the massive feeling that I should sleep.

my wife always insisted we subscribe to AAA. or maybe that would be insure with AAA? at any rate, I always found their radius of coverage was 1/2 the distance to anywhere. their rate past their coverage was calculated as 2 X standard towing rates. this always worked out to be exactly the same cost to be towed by anyone not AAA or to be towed by AAA. the subscription/retainer/membership/extortion for the AAA card was just gravy for them.

you may have towing on your insurance as well, you can always look into that. just be careful that you understand the coverage

Teah, the whole story is I need to go pick up a truck from my uncle in Augusta (about a 230+ mile drive depnding on exact route) and I would obviously just drive it down, but it's got old tire (not safe for going highway speeds) and I haven't driven a manual before and the idea of my first manual drive being a 5 and a half hour shift-fest is a bit scary.

All I know is that I have liability, I doubt I have towing on my plan but never hurts to ask.

230+ miles,? you're looking at a 300-400 dollar tow bill...at least, most likely more. i'd look into renting a trailer from uhaul or something, it'd def be cheaper than that. even with aaa

Thats what im looking at doing, and another TRS member said he could probably pull it for me.

Trying to sort through all my options, which there aren't that many of.

you could also go buy some new tires for it, around here you can get junkyard tires for $25 apiece for a 15 inch wheel. $100 plus gas to get there and get it back

My money when I go (hopefully wednsday) will be limit to about 135 bucks tops, and I've got to GET to augusta first.

This is basicly the worst situation I've been in so far (lots of backstory to this, got screwed royally by a family member). After the 1st I might be able to ge a set of new tires if I can get some stuff sold. But idk what the bills are gonna look like yet.

be aware that if the truck has been altered or modified from factory specs, lifted, lowered, etc., AAA can refuse to tow it. i was pricing their insurance and towing for a trip into Canada where they cover and discovered they may refuse service on my ranger with a 2inch body lift. it is each AAA's service that decides for themselves.
just a heads up.

I figured they would be wary of heavy modifications, but I didn't know smaller stuff could result in refusal too.

The truck is bone stock but thanks for the heads up for future reference.
