My prob.began shortly after I bought the truck.It's a 94RangerXLT3.0 w/A4LD.
I changed the tranny fluid and filter.then the thing wouldn't shift and I noticed tranny fluid in my engine so I replaced the vacum modulator but the thing still slips in O/D and is hesitant especially first thing in the morning.

I know when I bought mine I did the same thing and it still was shifting rough, so I traced it down to a vacuum line off. I'm not sure about the newer ones, mine is a 83. You might want to check that. A lot of times if your tranny is going out when you replace the filter/ fluid it can make it worse. Hope this helped:icon_thumby:

You should check to see if the vacuum modulator is an adjustable type or not. If so, adjust it slowly till you get it to shift right. Try adjusting the bands to stop the slipping and check the od shift solenoid to make sure it isnt burnt out or if you knocked a wire off when the pan was off Hope this helps,Hoss.
