will a a4ld transmission from behind a 4.0 in a 1997 ranger 4/4 fit behind a 4.o in a 1994 ranger.

1997 trucks don't have A4LDs. The last year of the A4LD was 1994. A 1997 would have either the 4r55e or 5r55e, which is based off of the A4LD, but it's completely electronically controlled and therefore incompatible.
