Have a A4ld out of a 94 ranger that was rebuilt 2 years ago. I been noticing before and after i changed the fluid, filter, and tranny cooler that it has a weird grind like sensation and shaking in un-lock od, and locked OD. its like it rubs for a second then stops, then starts and stops and so on. Before I drove it up to the mountiaings it seemed fine, but did notice the tranny would get warm to the touch threw the cab. After i changed the tranny cooler and so forth it no longer gets warm at all, but it does have a wierd shake and grind or rub every other rotation.

could this be the Tranny and OD having and issue or showing signs it might go out? or the Torque converter? 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift good and have no issues and has alot of power..

I managed to drain the pan and cooler, but did not drain the torque converter of fluid. Im planning on doing a flush soon to have all the fluid swapped..

anybody experience these issues in slip od, and locked od?

just wondering if anybody has had this happen?

I also noticed with the driveshaft off, i can shake the output gear that holds on the front part of the driveshaft, and it moves just a tad back and forth.. Maybe rear bearing going out? .. .

that sounds like the od band slipping, it fells like its shuttering right?

the band may be worn/out of ajustment, servo leaking internaly, valve body not applying suficent press. and or vol.

I would ajust the band first its free to do. driver side, the square stud w/ nut closest to the bell housing is the od ajuster, use a tq. wrench to (10ftlbs) {2.3, 2.9, 3.0 loosen only 2 full turns} [4.0 loosen only 3.5 turns]. keep the stud still and tighten the nut to 40 ftlbs

the od servo is easy to replace its just a snap ring and cover. it sits next to your cooler lines and dipstick tube

the valve body, now thats a hole different monster, 70% of a4ld problems are the valve body(my experance)
